Laney athletes score high on the field and in class In community college sports, it’s not always about the Ws and the Ls. It’s also about the GPAs. This year, the Laney College baseball team has seven players who made the All-State Academic Team. The team recognizes student-athletes who demonstrated academic excellence. Eagles go 4-1 on long road trip, lead Bay Valley Conference The Laney College baseball team is entering the last week of the regular season with its best record since 2012. The Eagles, by virtue of their 7-5 victory at Solano College on April 19, are now 23-9 overall and lead the Bay Valley Conference with a 17-3 record. Laney has a 5-0 record on its current six-game road trip, which concludes Thursday, April 21 with a game at Yuba College in Marysville. Laney tied for first in BVC with 5-1 record Good pitching, timely offense, and stalwart defense are the positive aspects of the Laney College baseball time at this particular point of the schedule. After a 5-1 home victory over Solano College on March 15, the Eagles are tied for first place in the Bay Valley Conference with a 5-1 record and are 11-7 overall. Losing streak reaches 12 games with defeat at Folsom Lake College What was a fine trip to begin with has turned into a long depressing spiral for the Laney College baseball team. With a 4-3 loss at Bay Valley Conference newcomer Folsom Lake College on March 24, the Eagles have now lost 12 straight games, including 11 in the BVC. Laney baseball drops BVC opener

The Laney College baseball team started its 2015 Bay Valley Conference schedule with a thud as the Eagles dropped a 3-2 decision to Mendocino College at home on Feb. 24. The home Eagles spotted the visiting Eagles a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the ninth before their quiet bats erupted to make the game close. Brennan Mauchline and Kaleo Johnson opened the inning with singles and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch.
