Laney Day

Baking and pastry student Adyam Abraham is pictured along with Laney’s iconic tower building. Her expression is emblematic of the pride students exhibited during Laney Day on May 2.

The Inter-Club Council organized the first-ever Laney Day–an event for students to celebrate their school. Volunteers from clubs on campus helped run the event, passing out custom Laney Day t-shirts, cooking food, or tabling for their club.

The Laney Soccer Club brought a soccer ball to the quad, inviting students to play or watch as they kicked the ball around for hours.

“It was successful because it did exactly what we wanted it to do,” ICC Vice President Rowena Brown said. When she looked around, she saw smiles, dancing and student camaraderie filling the quad.

Culinary Club members (left to right) Carol Williams and Meilan Lao served hot dogs to students in the quad, along with other barbecued foods.
