Letters to the editor: Oakland can be the catalyst for good

February 16, 2017 3:31 PM

Donald Trump becoming president has been one of the worst things to happen to America that I can remember.
Although this is a time of struggle, I see the silver lining. Many people have come together because of it.
An example of this was the women’s march, which your newspaper touched on, that took place all across America.
The unity was mesmerizing. In a time as tumultuous as this, we need to remember that there is still good in the world, and we are still all in this together.
I think that we all need to look into what can bring us together instead of what is tearing us apart.
Oakland, in my opinion, although said to be one of the worst cities in America, can be the beginning of a change.
With its music, art, and culture, I am reminded everyday of how lucky I am to be here.
Donald Trump may have won his battle, but definitely has not yet won the war.
