Six-game road trip may decide title chances

Less than a month to go in the season. Tied for the conference lead.
That is the status of the Laney College baseball team as of Thursday, April 7.

Laney College third baseman T.J. Morris tags out a sliding Jared Ambuhl of Los Medanos College during the Eagles’ 7-2 home loss to the Mustangs on April 5. Ambuhl was caught stealing.

The Eagles, despite a 7-2 home loss to Los Medanos College on April 5, are tied for the lead in the Bay Valley Conference with a 10-3 record. LMC also has a 10-3 record in the BVC.
Laney plays its last home game in 19 days on April 7 when the Eagles play host to the College of Marin. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
The Eagles will embark on a six-game “road trip” starting Saturday, April 9, against Marin in Kentfield.
The reason for the trip is that rainouts in March forced some teams to switch locales to Laney as their home fields were unplayable. Hence the road games (listed below).
The Eagles don’t have a hom game again until April 26, when they play Folsom Lake College. Two of their last three games of the regular season are at home.
Laney at the moment has a 17-8 won-loss record. No matter what happens to the Eagles’ season, it’s a lot better than what was happening at this time last season: The Eagles were in the midst of a 17-game losing streak.

April 12 At Mendocino (Ukiah)
